Over the past few days I have thought a lot about the how and the why of social media in business. How has social media impacted the way we do business, and why should organizations be using it?
What I have come to realize is that social media has not necessarily changed the way that businesses succeed in marketing themselves (building trust, relationships, and selling a quality product), it has simply offered us a new channel to create this trust and these relationships. And that is what it all comes down to… Trust, and real relationships.
So if your caught up in all of the social media tools, hoarding as many followers as possible, or are confused about how the whole space works, take a step back and a deep breath. Now think about the relationships you have developed with some of your top clients and the trust that they have in you and your brand… These relationships and the trust that has been built has probably taken a lot of time, interaction, and personal engagement.
But we all know the long term return of these customers is exponentially worth it.
Welcome to social media done right! It will take you time, effort, and lots of engagement to create trust and new meaningful (valuable) relationships through social media. But if you can accomplish this, these potential customers or clients will become your biggest fans!
Communicate and engage with your social media audience the same way you would your most valued customers. If you don’t think your valued customers would appreciate having an automated phone call sales pitch, or other half-hearted interactions, than don’t sell yourself short with these interactions online because they are easy and everyone else is doing them!
Social Media is just like your face to face interactions, you will only get out as much as you put in. If you aren’t engaging with your audience like they are valued customers… Than they never will be!
Thanks for taking the time to read my post- I also wanted to let you know I am giving away some free Cineplex movie tickets here!
